Hairless: Student to shear locks for charitable cause

Helping a child in need is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. An RSU student has found a way to do just that—with hair.

Daniel Hardt, a senior, is on a campaign to find as many people as he can to donate hair and money to Locks of Love. And he’s leading the way.

Business students to compete at top level

Students from RSU will compete in a statewide, NCAA-level collegiate business plan competition this spring.

In the Governor’s Cup Collegiate Business Plan Competition, students will use their entrepreneurial ideas to build a business plan for an innovative product or service and submit the plan for judging.

The team normally consists of 4-6 students from a cross-section of different majors and different skills. It is not just for business students, said Dana Gray, assistant professor and faculty advisor for the team.

RSU steps up work with community

RSU is working to better its working relationship with the community.

A group of representatives from RSU along with various members of the Claremore community attended the “Making Place Matter” seminar on Oct. 9, and in coming months a related committee will determine what issues Claremore and the university must face together.

New Apartments: Work Begins

All but two faculty and staff housing units have been demolished to make way for new student apartments, which could begin construction this summer, an RSU official said.

Crews are currently in process of surveying the land and a contractor should be announced within two months, said Thomas Volturo, RSU vice president for administration.
The apartments could be open by August 2011.
